Monroe, GA – A Walton County sheriff’s deputy was captured on camera wrestling with a suspect who had been pulled over for a traffic stop, officials said.
The suspect was pulled over for traveling at 78 mph in a 55 mph zone, the sheriff’s office said. As the Walton County deputy performed the traffic stop, the two entered into a scuffle that resulted in the suspect breaking free, officials said.
The video shows the deputy attempting to stop the suspect from driving off but is thrown to the ground.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook that the driver of a white truck followed the suspect and helped with his apprehension.
“If not for him, we probably wouldn’t have known where he went as he turned on a side road. Now that’s how it’s supposed to be. Thank you, Citizen,” the sheriff’s office posted.
The suspect was charged with multiple counts including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and several drug charges for the large number of Zanax he had in his possession, the sheriff’s office said.
